Since 1874, Grand Hôtel has stood at the very heart of Stockholm – overlooking the Royal Palace and Gamla Stan – as a gathering place for world leaders, innovators, artists, and changemakers. Behind its discreet façade, movie stars, rock stars, presidents, Nobel Laureates, and royalty have found both privacy and purpose.
It is a 5-star setting where history and ambition meet.
The very first Nobel Banquet was held at Grand Hôtel in 1901, in the legendary Spegelsalen, where celebrations continued until 1929 before moving to Stockholm City Hall as the event grew in scale. To this day, Nobel Laureates and their families stay at the hotel.
In the commemorative book Grand Hôtel, published for the hotel’s 125th anniversary, author Lennart Jarnhammar recounts visits from figures of historic significance – including Martin Luther King Jr., Grace Kelly, Rainier III, Prince of Monaco, Frank Sinatra, and Greta Garbo.
